Born on the Peninsula, John spent his early years living in Yorktown and on various Navy bases across the US and the Philippines. By middle school John was here to stay, leaving only to attend school at Liberty University in Lynchburg. He would return to the area a few years later having earned a degree in Business Management and, more significantly, getting married to Michelle O'Leary. As John and Michelle built a home and family together God was working in their lives preparing them spiritually, financially, and relationally to serve him in a full time capacity.
John first came into contact with the Rescue Mission by serving meals with a church group. This service grew and developed into a love for the men and the work of the Mission. When the transition process began at the Mission John felt a pull from God to leave his current field and join His work at the Rescue Mission full time, thus began a season of prayer over the matter. In October of 2013 John came to the Mission as the new Assistant Superintendent. He enjoys the opportunities to speak into the lives of men and see them grow closer to God.
Michelle continues as his teammate in ministry and life as they raise their children Nathan and Elizabeth.
