Peninsula Rescue Mission Doctrinal Statement
PURPOSE: The Peninsula Rescue Mission is an interdenominational organization seeking to work in cooperation with local churches in the ministry of the Gospel. The Mission’s work is based on a conservative, evangelical belief in the teaching of Scripture. The chief aim of the work is the winning of lost souls to Jesus Christ. Herein is the doctrinal position of the Peninsula Rescue Mission.
THE SCRIPTURE: We believe the Bible to be the inerrant, infallible, inspired, authoritative word of God. This inspiration we hold to be verbal (word for word) and plenary (in every part). This inspiration extends to the original manuscripts, but God has preserved His Word for us (II Peter 1:21, II Timothy 3:16, I Peter 1:23, 25, Isaiah 40:8, Matthew 24:35, Psalm 119:89).
THE GODHEAD: We believe in one God at once manifested in three Persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These members are equal in essence and co-eternal in existence. The three Persons operate in perfect unity and yet are distinct in office (Matthew 28:19, John 14:16& 26, 16:13-15).
JESUS CHRIST: We believe Jesus Christ existed from all eternity, was virgin-born, lived sinlessly, died for the sins of every child of Adam, and rose bodily, victorious over sin, Satan, death, hell and the grave. Christ is now seated bodily at the right hand of God and is the Head of the Church (John 1:1, Matthew 1:18, II Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 2:9, Romans 4:25, I Timothy 2:5, Ephesians 1:22,23).
MAN: We believe that God created Adam innocent from sin. By his own choice, Adam sinned and plunged the whole race into a state of spiritual death. This condition can only be remedied by faith in Jesus Christ and His shed blood (Genesis 1:26, 3:6, 7, Romans 5:12).
SALVATION: We believe that salvation (deliverance from sin and its consequences) is wholly of God’s grace, received by faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8, Acts 16:31, Galatians 3:26).
AFTERLIFE: We believe heaven and hell to be real places, the only places where the immortal souls of men may abide after death. Jesus Christ has paid the price of escape from hell and entrance into heaven. Only as one trusts Him can he claim the sure hope of a heavenly home (John 14:1-6, Luke 16:22,23, Revelation 20:15).
SATAN: We believe in a personal devil who introduced sin into the universe and has since been the enemy of God, opposing and imitating the works of God. Satan has been defeated at Calvary and will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire (Ezekiel 28:15, I Peter 5:8, II Corinthians 11:14, 15, Revelation 20:10).
THE CHURCH: We believe the local church is God’s means of government for His own in this age. The Church membership consists of baptized believers in Jesus Christ. All believers should unite with a local church to serve Christ. All agencies seeking to serve Christ should operate in cooperation with the local church. The church is a body of called-out people who should live separated lives (Acts 2:41, Hebrews 10:25, II Corinthians 6:17, Titus 2:14).
THE SECOND COMING: We believe the Scriptures teach an imminent return of Jesus Christ which is bodily and visible (Acts 1:11, I Thessalonians 4:13-18, Revelation 19:11-16).
