The House of Refuge: Providing Hope for Homeless Men 365 Days a Year.

The House of Refuge is a men's shelter located in downtown Newport News at 3700 Huntington Ave. We are open every day to help men who are homeless. We understand that life can be tough…lost jobs, broken marriages, or other difficult situations. We want to be a source of hope and comfort for those in need.

Our shelter can accommodate up to 40 men each night. We offer essential services to meet their basic needs and treat them with respect. We provide a safe place to sleep, hearty meals, hot showers, and laundry services. We believe in the transformative power of God’s Word and provide teachings from the Bible to inspire and uplift those who come our way.

Our doors open at 4PM every day for check-in. If you ever meet someone in need, please refer them to The Peninsula Rescue Mission. Our goal is to provide a Christ-centered environment where men can rebuild their lives, overcome homelessness, and become self-sufficient.
